At Tempest Solutions, we’ve long recognized the challenges faced by the Australian building and service industries due to a shortage of qualified tradespeople. Over the past 20 years, we’ve seen the impact of a lack of training opportunities for school leavers, leaving a significant gap in the workforce. As a solution, we’ve taken proactive steps by training apprentices who have gone on to become leaders in their field, contributing to a stronger industry.
Pioneering the HVAC Trade Experience for School Students
In recent years, we’ve gone one step further in shaping the future of the trade industry by providing school students with a firsthand opportunity to experience one of the most comprehensive trades of all—HVAC. As part of our ongoing commitment to nurturing talent, we’ve proudly partnered with the NSW Schools Industry Partnership, a program designed to connect students with real-world career experiences.
Every year, we host Year 11 and Year 12 students who are studying Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses. These students spend a week with our experienced service team, out in the field, gaining invaluable insights into the day-to-day of the HVAC trade. This initiative not only opens their eyes to the career possibilities within the industry, but also helps them better understand the skills and dedication required to succeed.

The benefits of this program extend far beyond just the students. By giving young people an opportunity to experience the trade hands-on, we’re ensuring a pipeline of future talent for the industry. Over the past three years, we’ve hosted around 20 students, all of whom have provided glowing feedback on their experience.
